About Arctic Adventure – Robert Westin

Arctic Adventure creates guided experiences in the forests, rivers and lakes of Arctic Sweden. Based in Harads, we welcome guests throughout the year, sharing the places we know through fishing, outdoor adventures and time spent together in nature. Our work also takes us into Arctic Finland and northern Norway.

The company began in 2000, when founder Robert Westin left a career in IT to follow a lifelong connection to the outdoors. Originally named Arctic Fishing, the business grew from guided fishing trips into a wider range of experiences, becoming Arctic Adventure in 2006. The idea behind it remains straightforward: sharing this part of the world through people who know it and care about its future.

Robert grew up close to the forest and water, with a father who had worked as a trapper. Fishing and practical outdoor knowledge became part of his life early on. Today, he brings that background to his work as a fishing guide, environmental consultant and educator. Whether guiding on a river or discussing the condition of a stream, his approach draws on years in the field and a curiosity about how nature works.

Our team offers experiences that follow the seasons. Summer brings fishing, hiking and paddling, evenings beside an open fire and meals prepared outdoors. In winter, we explore on snowshoes and forest skis, fish through the ice and head out into the darkness in search of the northern lights. Through local hosts, guests can also learn about Sámi culture and life in the north. We work closely with accommodation partners including Treehotel, Arctic Bath, Arctic Retreat and Villa Äng, creating experiences for private travellers, families and groups.

Caring for these places also means getting involved in their restoration. Alongside his guiding, Robert works practically with water sampling, fish and crayfish surveys, and the restoration of water environments. His involvement includes work connected to streams, lakes and wetlands, bringing local knowledge and field observations into cooperation with associations, researchers and public authorities.

This work gives a concrete meaning to our regenerative approach: contributing to the recovery of environments that have been degraded. Restoration can involve improving conditions for fish to reproduce, helping water environments regain their natural functions and following up changes through sampling and surveys. The needs of each place guide the work, and understanding the results takes time.

For us, guiding and restoration belong together. Knowing a river means understanding both the experience it offers today and the conditions it needs for the future. We want our guests to leave with good memories, a closer connection to Arctic Sweden and a deeper understanding of the nature and communities that make it special.

We look forward to welcoming you to our part of the north.
