An image may only be used in the context agreed upon with its originator. This applies for example to a given type of publication, number of copies made and dissemination. If any amendment is planned after the agreement then the originator must first be contacted. The originator must first be contacted as soon as an image is to be re-used. No alterations may be made to the image without the permission of the originator. This applies to cropping, retouching, digital manipulation or other methods.
Arctic Adventure implements a practice in which image cropping can be permitted provided its content is not significantly altered. The originator’s name shall be included in an editorial and informational context. In an advertising context the name should be included. New copies of the image may not be produced without the permission of the originator, regardless of whether the copy is used in a newspaper, publication or duplicated form, etc.
Purchasing images
When purchasing an image from Arctic Adventure you only purchase the right to use it in a given context. All other user rights remain the property of Arctic Adventure. The ownership rights to the supplied images always remain with Arctic Adventure. A special agreement with Arctic Adventure is required to retain the image.
Purchasing an archived image means only purchasing the right to use the image in a certain given context. If the image is to be re-used then Arctic Adventure must always give permission in advance. The supplied image must always be returned undamaged after use.
Digitally stored images must be deleted after use. It is not forbidden to store images for future use without the permission of Arctic Adventure. Those ordering images must inform themselves of the terms for use of the image for which they intend to purchase user rights. Customers are not permitted to purchase an image without first ensuring that the image information and delivery terms are acceptable to them with regard to the intended use of the image.
Arctic Adventure owns exclusive rights to all images published on this web site. All use without the express approval of Arctic Adventure is illegal. If anyone uses an image in contravention of the image information or has erroneously described the area of use for the image then Arctic Adventure is entitled to take legal action.

Good to know
The sole rights of authority to the image apply for 70 years (extended by 20 years by amendment to the act on 960101) after the year of death of the originator. A photographic image not considered a production is protected for 50 years from the year of origin. To be considered a production the image must have a certain individuality, originality and characteristics. By this is meant that two people shall not be able to produce the same image independently of one another.
